At Third Eye Blind Productions, a leading Micro-Drama Production House in India, every project we touch is a chance to outdo ourselves. Our recent project, “The Secret Husband,” was no different. The series needed to be bold, emotionally gripping, and packaged smartly for vertical viewing (yes, 9:16 format).

The brief?

A fictional romantic thriller about secrets, redemption, and romance—everything that keeps audiences binge-watching.

We’re not here to spoil the plot. Instead, we’ll walk you through the real story — how we, as a Micro-Drama Production Agency, took this series from scribbles on a page to a finished 45-episode Mini-Series, ready for screening across India.

From sleepless nights in scripting to fighting challenges in Lonavala, from panic to perfection in post — here’s how it all went down.

Pre-Production: From Concept to Blueprint

It all began with a client brief. The goal was clear: create a gripping romantic thriller series with layers of suspense and emotional depth, but keep it snackable and high-impact. Our writer’s lair, where our writers dust their imagination and ink their ideas, roll up their sleeves and get to work immediately.

Within 48 hours, we delivered 3 strong concept notes, each aligned tightly with the client’s vision. After some back-and-forth and a virtual brainstorming session, the client greenlit the one we internally called “The Secret Husband.” That’s when the real grind began.

Scripting:

Over the next five days, our writing team developed a 120-page screenplay, Rich in dialogue, with cliffhangers tailored for a digital audience. Every scene was written keeping in mind the vertical screen format and episode pacing. This wasn’t just a script—it was a visual roadmap for a high-intensity, short-format story. All were perfectly aligned with our client’s brief.

Recce & Casting:

Meanwhile, our in-house digital content production team began location scouting. Lonavala was chosen as the prime shoot location, offering the perfect blend of seclusion and visual beauty. Our DOP conducted multiple recce’s to finalize spots that could work both logistically and visually for our tight schedule.

Casting was next. We didn’t want just faces — we wanted performers who could hold the viewer in a 60-second scene. We filtered through our talent catalogue and shared a shortlist with the client. Together, we finalized a cast that perfectly matched the emotional complexity of the characters.

Storyboard & Moodboard:

Once casting and location were locked, our team meticulously built the storyboard, breaking down each scene and shooting for clarity. The mood board was prepared in parallel, giving the DOP, art team, and director a shared visual language for colour palettes, lighting tones, and even wardrobe references. This became our North Star for production.

With the full roadmap in place, we were set to bring “The Secret Husband” to life.

The content team led by our Senior content writer rolled up his sleeves and took up the challenge of giving concept notes along with two junior content writers in the team. Our content team had a brief Google Meet with the client as the ideation for the concept notes is incomplete without the Dos and Don’ts for the project along with budget details. After this, our team had a meeting for the ideation of the concept note and prepared five concept notes within 48 hours.

A concept note is an overall rough idea about what the story is based on. Concept notes were ideas as per the brief provided by the clients. After the client shortlisted three concept notes, our editing and content team had a Google Meet with the clients to help them understand how we can craft this project with minute details and perfection. After a more than hour-long Google meeting, clients agreed on the concept note, “A Tangled Tale of Train”—now changed to “The Train Hijack.” After the deal was locked, our content team crafted an action-packed, thriller script for the project within a week, obviously with some changes from the clients. The script was ready to move to the next stage.

Production: The Calm, the Storm, and the

Secrets in Between

The shoot was planned across 4 intense days in Lonavala. The location — picturesque, peaceful, and cinematic. But as any short-format series production team will tell you, nothing ever goes exactly as planned.

Day 1—Daylight Delays, and Fast Thinking

We kicked off early, but the hills had other plans. A thick blanket of fog rolled in, cutting visibility and delaying our first setup by nearly 3 hours. With daylight ticking away, panic was just around the corner. But our production team, trained for exactly this kind of chaos, made a few on-the-spot decisions. Scenes were reshuffled, a couple of interior shots were pulled forward, and our cast and crew adapted in real-time.

By sunset, not only had we recovered lost time, but we’d shot more than was scheduled for the day. It was a high-five moment for the entire crew.

Thank goodness, Day 2 went exactly as planned! 🙂

Day 3— A Wardrobe Glitch

Day 3 was dedicated to some of the most emotionally charged scenes of the series. Everyone was in the zone. Until halfway through a crucial shot, we realized the lead actor’s wardrobe continuity was off — a different outfit from the previous sequence. A minor detail, but one that could ruin the edit.

Our assistant director caught it just in time. Instead of redoing the entire scene, we matched it in-camera with clever angles and lighting, saving us hours and avoiding reshoots. The client never noticed. (Until now. Surprise!)

Day 4 – The Final Stretch

We entered the last day with one goal: to wrap all exterior shots before the sun dipped. Lonavala’s weather was on our side this time.

The energy on set was electric. We shot two reveal scenes and the closing monologue of the protagonist — moments that tied the entire narrative together.

By 6:45 pm, we called it a wrap. Tired, yes. But victorious.

Post-Production: The Real Test Begins

Production may be exhausting, but post-production? That’s where the project becomes a story.

We handed over more than 600 GB of raw footage to our senior editor and his dream team. From syncing audio to organizing scenes, from renaming clips to locking timelines, this phase took surgical precision.

1. Editing and Story Arc

Our editors approached the footage not just as technicians but as storytellers. They worked with the director to maintain the emotional rhythm and visual continuity, especially important in micro-drama productions where every frame counts.

Every cut was intentional. Every pause is meant to hold you. Every transition — seamless.

2. Colour Grading & VFX

Next up was colour grading, led by our in-house colourist. The Lonavala greens were softened to pastel blues and warm browns to reflect the evolving emotions of the story. Romantic sequences were warm and hopeful, while scenes of betrayal had colder, steely tones.

Our VFX & SFX team handled the subtle things — cleaning shots, stabilizing camera shakes, enhancing light leaks, and polishing action transitions. One major reveal scene even required background cleanup and character cloning (yep, we do that too).

3. Sound Design, Dubbing & Music

Dialogues were dubbed in-studio to ensure clarity. Our sound engineer sculpted the ambiance for each space, whether it was a breezy balcony conversation or a tense confrontation in a closed room.

Original background music was composed to match the series’ tone. The score was minimal, emotional, and perfectly aligned with scene shifts.

4. Delivery & Final QC

After multiple revisions, client reviews, and internal screenings, “The Secret Husband” was delivered on time, fully optimized for digital release on VahaFlix. We didn’t just deliver a series. We delivered a complete storytelling experience in vertical format — made for reels but crafted with cinema sensibilities.
